Winter Season and Deepavali
My Comments: It's a good point that Deepavali energizes us during the start of the winter season when things are slowing down. But still, we should realize the importance of the environment and let kids burst crackers and adults must do more mature things like meditation, learning something new, do creative things, think of ways to improve life for all, and last but not the least enjoy time with family members and friends.
Another perspective on Diwali by Hansaji
My comment: Puja for her means going within (meditation actually) and that's the best thing to do instead of praying for money/maya which can be attained through business/jobs only. All festivals are an opportunity to go within only instead of looking outside actually. She rightly says that firecrackers can just be symbolic and better to limit them for the environment.
My Comment: It's good to know that firecrackers are not part of Indian culture at all. And huge pollution in a single day is also bad for health. We must control pollution on all levels (parali, Diwali, vehicle pollution), as all are bad. Firecracker event by the government sounds like a good idea in place of individual spending on firecrackers.
